It was my brother Tyson’s birthday recently, and what better way to celebrate it then head out for a good old fashion fox spotlighting hunt, but this time we had a secret weapon!
Thanks to the legends over at Night Tech and Ground Force International we got our hands on the Night Tech XD 65 Pro II Thermal Monocular which we used for the hunt. For those who haven’t used a thermal monocular or scope before, unlike traditional optics thermal gear provides a visual representation of heat, which makes spotting animals in the dark easy. The foxes didn’t stand a chance.
Tyson was driving at I had to keep reminding him to spot and let me glass the entire field before we moved through it haha. With traditional fox hunting via spotlight your relying on catching the foxes amber eyes in the light to find and then take them down. With the Night Tech monocular we were able to glass the entire paddock, find the fox, and then take a 100-250m shot without the Fox being any wiser.
