KC has never hunted sambar. He’s never stepped foot in the Victorian High Country. And until this trip, he’d never experienced the brutal reality of chasing deer on public land. That all changes in this episode.

Continuing our High Country public land adventure, KC heads out of camp on a solo hunt in an effor to try and harvest his very first sambar deer. Fueled by excitement and nerves, his hunt quickly turns into an emotional roller coaster as he bumps into multiple deer, takes several rushed shots after spooking them, and is left battling doubt during the recovery efforts that follow.

This hunt isn’t perfect. But it’s real. It’s the truth of what happens when a new hunter takes on one of the toughest game animals in Australia, on some of the most challenging terrain in the country, and a great reminder about the importance of learning, practice and perseverance.
